Certification & traceability
Every lot of Structural Sections ships with its mill test certificate and heat number, and material is checked against the certificate before dispatch. Need the certificate for a specific lot? Use the button above and we will include it with your quote.
Structural Sections: common questions
I-beam or H-beam — which should I use?
I-beams (IPE / UB) have narrower flanges and are typically used as beams and purlins in bending; H-beams (HEA / HEB / UC) have wide parallel flanges and suit columns and heavy frames. Your structural engineer specifies the profile; we supply both from 100 mm up.
What is the difference between ASTM A36, S275JR and S355JR?
They are structural steel grades with different minimum yield strengths: A36 is about 250 MPa, S275JR is 275 MPa and S355JR is 355 MPa. Higher yield allows smaller sections for the same load; the grade is set by the design and confirmed on the mill test certificate.
What lengths are available, and can you cut or drill them?
Sections are stocked in 6 m and 12 m lengths. Cut to length, drilling and priming are available — include the details with your quote request.
Do structural sections come with a mill test certificate?
Yes. Every lot of structural sections is supplied with the mill test certificate and heat number. Use the "Request mill test certificate" button on this page to ask for the certificate with your quote.
How do I get a price for structural sections?
Send the grade, sizes, quantity and delivery location through the quote form. Prices are quoted on request and we reply usually within a few hours on business days; minimum order quantity and lead time are confirmed in your quote.
Guides for Structural Sections
- Quality guideHow to Read a Mill Test Certificate (MTC)A mill test certificate (MTC) is the steel mill's record of one heat of steel: its chemical composition and its tested mechanical properties against a named standard. Check that the heat number on the certificate matches the tag on your material and that every value meets the standard's minimum.
- Structural guideI-Beam vs H-Beam (Garder): Differences & UsesAn I-beam (IPE or UB) has flanges much narrower than its depth and is efficient in bending, so it is used for beams, joists and purlins. An H-beam (HEA, HEB or UC) has flanges about as wide as its depth, which makes it stiff about both axes and suited to columns and heavy frames.
- Buying guideSteel Order Checklist for Contractors (Pakistan)For an accurate, comparable steel quote, send the supplier the standard and grade, every size with its quantity in tonnes or pieces, lengths, any cutting or bending, and the delivery location and access — and ask for mill test certificates with the material.
- Buying guideSteel Suppliers in Karachi: How to ChooseSteel suppliers in Karachi fall into three groups: mills, importers and stockists (traders). For most site and workshop orders a stockist is the practical choice — compare them on the standard and grade quoted, mill test certificates, the weight basis of the price, cutting and bending, and delivery to your site.
- Buying guideSteel Suppliers in Pakistan: Mills vs StockistsPakistan's steel supply chain has three layers: mills that roll rebar and some sections from scrap and billets, importers that bring in structural sections, plate, coil and pipe through Karachi port, and stockists that sell mixed lots with processing and delivery. Buy by standard and grade, insist on a mill test certificate, and choose the layer that matches your quantity and timeline.
